Whenever it would rain
he’d sit outside
watch the sky change
from day to night
He’d let the rain
flow down his face
and hide everything
he could not say
All of his shame
All of his pain
Everything that made him think
he was not okay
Where he didn’t need
to live in fear
of anyone seeing
the flooding of his tears
Though skies were clouded
his emotions were clear
Though the rain and tears
made a flood
he did not care
for he made a boat
a boat which
he could steer
a boat, which could take him
anywhere
Whenever it would rain
he’d sit outside
watch the sky change
as he cried
